It all started when…

One of the most exciting opportunities arose in 2018, as RAF Benson’s 230 Squadron asked for help in designing a tiger! Have you ever had a ‘bucket list’ project you hoped to take on one day?! Well this big cat was ours! 230 Squadron had limited resources available with only a small number of painters available at their home station and a need to avoid taking an aircraft ‘offline’ for an excessive amount of time when the flying programme needed it. Therefore, the suggestions put forward focused mainly on getting the most out of an elaborate tail design whilst keeping the forward fuselage simple. Unfortunately for us, after 8 months of work, professional RAF designers elected to take the project on under the bigger celebration of RAF100 and so the livery was replaced. It was a thoroughly enjoyable time working with 230 Squadron though and that ‘itch’ to paint a tiger will continue into the future!

This project was worked on within the Ministry of Defence and not under Dynamic Vectors. It serves only as an illustration of what some of our designers can do.

The final livery applied to 230 Squadron’s centenary Puma was designed by the RAF’s professional graphic designers, although the RAF100 decals were removed after the 2018 celebrations.
