We’re very pleased to announce our second bespoke patch in collaboration with the United States Air Force in Europe, to celebrate 70 years of the 48th Fighter Wing and Lakenheath’s new specially-marked F-15E - the Liberator.

We’ve created this PVC patch to champion the many people and types which have carved out the Liberty Wing’s history over the past seven decades, spent within France and later on the shores of the United Kingdom.

The patch features some of the most significant aircraft types operated by the 48th. In the foreground, the specially painted ‘Liberator’ jet - a beautifully presented F-15E Strike Eagle, coded 92-0364.

Behind it, the design which adorns the aircraft’s tail surfaces, with the Statue of Liberty at its centre, recognising the 48th’s status as ‘The Liberty Wing.’ Around it, almost every type to have flown on the Wing is featured - the Republic F-84G Thunderjet, North American F-100D Super Sabre, McDonnell-Douglas F-4D Phantom II, General Dynamics F-111F Aardvark, McDonnell Douglas F-15C/D Eagle and the newest incumbent - the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II.

Upon the inner surfaces of the vertical tailplane, is depicted the ‘USAF 75’ logo, which recognises another significant milestone for the wider Air Force, under which the United States Air Force in Europe and the 48th FW serve. The shield containing the US flag further represents the liberty and freedom which they work to protect. The Strike Eagle protrudes from the patch in glorious 3D, and contains beautiful cockpit detail ahead of the now well-known airbrake design on the dorsal of the jet.
