USAFE 492nd FIGHTER GENERATION SQUADRON
USAFE 492nd FIGHTER GENERATION SQUADRON
We’re pleased to release a patch which is altogether rather different, produced for the 492nd Fighter Generation Squadron. The 492nd FGS is the deployable engineering unit alongside the 492nd Fighter Squadron, responsible for providing F-15E Strike Eagles to support all tasks assigned to ‘The Bolars.’
This has been a fantastic project where we have pushed detail to the absolute max! The mighty Strike Eagle is seen sitting on Lakenheath’s dispersal, armed to the teeth with GBUs, AMRAAMs and AIM-9Xs. Maintainers can then be seen readying the jet for flight. One works the cockpit area whilst another accesses data on a flight line laptop and the final individual checks the engine turbine blades under torchlight, wearing protective overalls having climbed in with the help of a ladder. Every turbine blade has been painstakingly modelled and each intake is represented in 3D with the blades recessed!
The nose avionics doors are also shown open and details as small as the chocks and ‘Remove Before Flight’ tags are represented! Behind this incredibly intricate scene are the white and blue colours of ‘The Madhatters’ along with hidden flags to represent the presence of USAFE personnel in the United Kingdom.
This patch has been a painstaking work of art for our graphical team to build. The details are truly staggering and our team has successfully pushed the medium of PVC to its limit, working in multiple 2D and 3D layers to create an ultra-realistic scene for our valued friends on the 492nd.
These probably won’t last long so please do order soon if you would like to add this to your collection. Enjoy the detail!
