USAF 336th FS/FGS 'THE ROCKETEERS'
USAF 336th FS/FGS 'THE ROCKETEERS'
We promised you another release from the mighty F-15E squadrons of Seymour Johnson Air Force base in North Carolina and here it is!
‘The Rocketeers’ of the 336th Fighter Squadron asked us to produce something truly original, compared to their previous patches. Formed out of one of the Royal Air Force Eagle Squadrons in World War II, the 336th FS revisited the United Kingdom last year and we know a large number of our valued customers have asked if we would ever produce a patch for them - so we hope those of you who did will be pleased to hear that ‘The Rocketeers’ got in touch! We are equally pleased to be offering this patch to enthusiasts alongside that for ‘The Lancers’ of the 333rd, co-located at SJAFB.
The 336th has an extraordinary combat record, formed within the 4th Tactical Fighter Wing - now the 4th Operations Group. It was also the first F-15E Strike Eagle squadron in the US Air Force. Recently celebrating its heritage with a specially marked jet, tail coded 88-1673, we elected to feature this colourful Strike Eagle front and centre. Behind it, the world across which the Squadron has projected itself on operations, bathed in the yellow of the tail flash displayed on its aircraft…and of course no patch dedicated to ‘The World Famous Rocketeers’ would be complete without their namesake blasting off into orbit. The Rocket’s origin had to be Seymour Johnson of course!
We thank the 336th for entrusting us with this project - launching into a new style of patch and a break from tradition for them. It’s been a blast!
