USAFE 48th FW 70th ANNIVERSARY LIBERATOR
USAFE 48th FW 70th ANNIVERSARY LIBERATOR
Roll-out the Liberator!
We are ecstatic to be able to announce that we have been working with the 48th Fighter Wing, based at RAF Lakenheath, on a very special set of projects to celebrate its 70th anniversary.
For months we have been working to create two bespoke patches to celebrate this incredible milestone for the United States Air Force in Europe and it is with great joy that we unveiled them on the same day as Lakenheath’s new specially-marked F-15E hit the tarmac at RAF Fairford to mark the Royal International Air Tattoo 2022, in the same year that the US Air Force itself reaches 75 years of service.
The Strike Eagle chosen to carry the unique markings is 92-0364; an airframe built in 1992 and currently active with the 494th Fighter Squadron - notably flown to RIAT by the 492nd FS. As the 48th FW puts the finishing touches to the livery, it has been an honour to be working on a smart embroidered patch to mark the moment, proudly displaying the Statue of Liberty, after which the Wing is named.
Concurrently, we were asked to work on a far more elaborate PVC patch; designed to champion the many people and types which have carved an extraordinary history out for the Liberty Wing over the past seven decades, spent on the shores of the United Kingdom.
One of our favourite works ever, it will celebrate Liberator itself; incorporating many elements of 364’s design, which have transferred directly from the drawing boards and paint shop floor, to become part of a patch which will adorn the arms of those who proudly serve on the extraordinary Squadrons of the 48th FW.
To all at Lakenheath who played a part in bringing this series of projects our way, our Dynamic Vector’s team remain forever grateful and wishes all of you a safe and successful 2022.
