RAF 201 SQUADRON 'GUERNSEY'S GIRL'
RAF 201 SQUADRON 'GUERNSEY'S GIRL'
We’re gonna throw a torpedo into the mix with the next offering for 201 Squadron in RAF Lossiemouth.
On request of the squadron, this patch is an homage to Nimrod MR.2P XV258, which first carried the ‘Guernsey’s Girl’ imagery during Operation Granby in 1991.
It was also carried by a second Nimrod, XV241, which became known as ‘Guernsey’s Girl II’ throughout Operation Telic in 2003.
We are extremely pleased to be able to work with 201 Squadron to revive this part of their heritage, forging a new link with their current mount - the Boeing P-8A Poseidon.
The patch not only develops a new look for Guernsey’s Girl herself, but recognises the aircraft and one of its most potent weapons, the Mk.54 torpedo. The colours of Guernsey’s flag provide the backdrop.
